something new
continuing with the theme...
today marks the end of my first 24 hours of gluten-free living. although it's still very new, it seems to be working miracles on my all-to-temperamental gut. i don't have celiac's disease but i do have microscopic colitis that isn't responding to any of the typical treatments. sick of taking pills, i decided to try and fix my problem through diet. given that i've never had one consistent "trigger" for my problems (dairy, caffeine, carbs, etc) i figured i'd try cutting gluten. i should say that eliminating gluten from your diet is no easy task. i'm still trying to make my way and figure out what products have gluten hidden in them. you know, things like mustard and soy sauce. who would have thought? thankfully whole foods has a packet that lists all of their foods that are gluten-free so i've already stocked up on bread, chips, pasta, cereal, nutritional bars, cookies and juice. you know, the essentials. :o)
i'm not sure yet that i'll become a no gluten freak, but so far i feel 100% better and am going to ride that wave for as long as i can. i just can't imagine a time where i can't eat sushi or drink soda. ugh. actually, if this really works, i will totally be that person that scours the internet to find a soy sauce that is gluten free that i can pour into a mini flask and take with me to dinner.
just please don't let me find out that there's gluten in coffee...
Hey I'm glad it's working for you !
Good luck !

Good luck! Our friend has had to switch her food obsessed daughter (25 years old with Downs) to a gluten-free diet. It hasn't been easy and certainn stuff doesn't taste as good without the gluten. I applaud you for trying this approach--good luck!

Gluten-free sure sounds tough, but glad your noticing improvement already! I had to say that I just love that pic of your grandmother with Amy. Funny but with their smiles, they almost look like they could be related. Your grandmother looks like the sweetest lady, you must miss her so!

Fabulous! This has worked wonders for my best friend. & every time we go out to sushi, which is very often, we ask for gluten free soy sauce. It's never been a problem.
